Upgade-able 18650 flashlights

I bought a 18650 light a few years ago and it can only do 225 lumens (Fenix Tk12). Now people are talking 600 steady and 850 turbo.

If I buy a new 18650 light, what 18650 flashlights are upgradeable with a new LED should things continue to improve.


I'm looking at these but will consider others:

None of those lights are upgradable. They have fixed light engines.

You need have a look at the lights which are made to be upgraded as improvements occur, with interchangeable light engine "drop-ins" such as Malkoff, and the SureFire "P60" lights such as the 6P, and even Solarforce.
With these lights, you keep the same body and head, and just drop-in the latest light engine with the latest LED in it, and your light is upgraded.
That's the way to do it.

With the exception of Solarforce, and perhaps Dereelight to some degree, the Chinese lights don't produce this type of light.
This is the type of product that you find built in the USA.

If you like your old light and just need more output, you might want to check with some of the modders here to upgrade the light for you. Vinhnguyen54 has a good reputation here and has a quick turn-around.
Or just get a Solarorce host and your choice of drop-in.

Ive been very tickled with my xt11, especially on 3.7v rcr123's. although just yesterday it became a "hit it to turn it back on" kind of light :(

Lumens Factory sells the Seraph 6 (2 CR123) and Seraph 9 (3 CR123) lights which are 18650 capable, as well as CR123. You can get them with a single mode XP-G R2, a multi mode of the same, or as a body only for use with whichever D26 module you might wish. I personally have the Seraph 6 3-mode, which I dearly love. I like the 5-30-100% levels, and the light has a beautiful pattern and tint.

dereelight's lights are upgradable, you just change the drop in pill, and your light will be at par with the latest LED's out there. drop by dereelight's website and prepare to be "enlightened"
