Upgrade Lux III RAW?

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

Yes it will work. I did it with a first generation Orb using a K2 180 lumen TFFC. It worked out just fine with no beam problems

Indeed, just unsolder the leds, and pry that sucker out, and slap a K2 in there... The grin on your face will say a thousand words after you're done.

Good to know.

Just one more thing... Ordinary thermal goop or epoxy? (I've spotted some cheap Arctic Silver)

Done.

Can I just say: 'I hate thermal epoxy'? (the LuxIII came off in two parts...)

It's dark now, so what's it like?

Same beam pattern (not quite centred though...), I'd say 50/180 lumens, a nice neutral white - 'clear' comes to mind - warmer than either a Cree Q5 WC or GD+ and missing that green tint the LuxIII had on low.

No word on runtime yet.
