At work: finding products on pallets in dark areas or underneath racks; inspecting products (checking pack/use by dates); safely assisting customers during power failures.

At home: searching for things in dark closets/cupboards/basement; checking the mailbox at roadside at night; playing "chase the light beam" with the dog.

Misc. uses: Hiking at night; checking for strange noises/critters; impressing the living daylights out of people who have never seen anything more technologically advanced than an average 2-D cell flashlight with a halogen bulb.

1) Lighting up dimly lit areas in a well lit room. (Duh) but this includes behind or underneath large things (appliances, etc.) in a well lit room. Often this is while looking for something I've dropped, etc.

2) Doing repairs in poorly lit areas. This includes inside appliances and large scientific instruments in well lit rooms, as well as car repairs at night, etc.

3) Walking at night. I don't usually walk with a flashlight on, but usually have a small, but bright (read: SureFire) light in my hand, so I can light up items of interest, or areas that are really dark.

You only wnat three? If I made the list tomorrow, it might be completely different..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I hope there will be more responses, but if not, you have helped me a great deal already!
