I did a search and couldn't find the answer to this question, so here goes. Could you take a Photon Freedom Max apart and put the board/switch into a tailcap switch? You would have variable brightness just like the Freedom.

Maybe I'm missing something, I'm still trying to figure out the electronics. It's 3 volt, so it would have to be in a single CR-123 light (or 2 cell AA, etc..) You would have to make a tailcap to fit the parts and figure out a new button, but it seems doable.

It seems so obvious that someone should have done it by now. Why not?

One possible problem is the photon deals in the range of 10-100ma. Most larger LED flashlights deal in the 350-1400mAh range and would most likely fry the electronics of the swtich.
