Vector HID light, where 2 buy?

Hey snowlover91, as far as I am aware the Vector/POB is not available at local big box stores. :shakehead I've never seen it in any here in NW Ohio. I know you wanted local stores, but the only places I've seen them are online at Amazon.com, like your link, and on Ebay (where I got mine).

This link is to amazon, and they are listed for slightly lower cost than in the link you posted. There are only 3 left as of this post.

Also, if you're not already aware of it, the light was made by Black and Decker but was also marketed under the Power On Board, and Vector names. If you do any searching online try those names as well, might save you a couple bucks. I searched "Vector HID" on Ebay and found a few going for under $60 (without shipping).

Good luck! :twothumbs

Ok, thanks for the suggestion. I went to our local HD today, and they had 1 Black & Decker light left, it is the 2 million candlepower series, has 1365 lumens, and was $29.97. Do you know anything about this light? Is it worth the $30 or so I paid for it?

EDIT: it is probably not HID, it says it is a quartz bulb or something like that.

The HID ones can be had on ebay from anywhere around 35 to 80 bucks. They are the deal. 2800+ lumens. Should be quite a dazzler if you haven't seen one in action before. Just look for HID flashlight in the search and it should bring up bunches.

I picked mine off E-Bay for less then $40.00.This light is the most fun you can have with your pants on. Every flashaholic should own one at that price.

I can't be 100% positive, but I think  that all quartz bulbs are halogen, HID lights may use a quartz lamp as well, but I doubt they would advertise it on the package. So you are correct, it's not an HID. For general use the black and decker should serve quite well, but it won't quite achieve that "WOW" factor that an HID would.

I have a 7 year old Brinkmann "2 million cp" quartz halogen light that still works and shines fairly brightly. I still find many uses for it, so no you didn't waste your money, it can still be quite handy. Try to keep the battery fully charged, it will prolong it's life significantly.

The POB/Vector HID light outputs a much more tightly focused white/blue colored light (personally I like the warmer color temps like your B&D) Without tweaking the light whatsoever I've been able to visibly light up a tower that was 3/4 of a mile away. It was not lit up very bright mind you, but bright enough to see it during an otherwise pitch black night. This is where the HID really shines, pun intended. It not only puts out a relatively massive amount of light, but it throws pretty far as well, with the added benefit of around an hour of runtime. Sorry if you already know all this, just trying to hit all bases.

Hope this helps a bit, good luck snowlover91

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I will check out ebay and see if they have the Vector HID light, as it seems to be very bright for the money. Personally, I also like the warm tint of the Black & Decker I bought, and for $30 it is very nice. I could actually see the beam in my house!!!

BTW, how long do you think my Black & Decker will run after a full charge? About an hour or so?

I think I need a HID for that "WOW" factor I am looking for:)
