I'm going to fill the open LED head of my Arc AAA-P with crystal clear epoxy. It'll prevent the buildup of lint and grunge that happens in my pocket now. Since it'll join the LED and the head permanently, I'd kinda like to change the LED now while I have the chance.

So the question is, what is the best upgrade for the Nichia 5mm LED the Arc has now? I'm going to keep the stock board. Of course, I want a little more output and I definitely don't want to lose any runtime. Anybody have any suggestions?

thanks

Filling the head with epoxy will turn the light into a flood light, but perhaps that's your goal.

There was a thread about lifetime of 5mm white LEDs and only the Nichia ones survived currents above the (20mA?) specification very well. So changing to a different LED (like the snow white ones Peak uses) may give you a nicer colour but a much shorter life (since Arc overdrives the LED with a fresh cell).
