What Driver Should I use With This...?

I am having trouble picking out a driver for this IR LED from KD. Looking for for a regulated driver to push this IR LED to 3W.

I plan to use a SF G2 or a 6P clone as a host.

I've heard it doesn't last long at "3w"

What you need to find is an appropriate buck driver, but I'm not sure if 500 mA is too much for the LED.

just got something similar last weekend myself ive done some testing with a standard AA duracell and no regulation. the specs ive got for the led show a 2000ma draw at the led which is higher than a AA can provide. the initial results were quite poor but im putting it down to focusing im getting massive flood with no hot spot okay for use up to 50 mtrs but no good in reality
