What flashlight(s) do you keep in your vehicle?

Let's hear what you keep as a car light.

I keep a MagLED 3D in mine, decent brightness and runtime, and deals out some hefty smacks if I ever need it to. Plus it's not that expensive, so if it ever gets stolen I'm not out that much money (the downside of having a rag top with plastic windows that unzip from outside).

I carry the exact same thing in my truck, although I upgraded it recently with an P4 drop-in that I had.

I remember seeing a thread about this recently too. There was a lot of feedback there also.

G2L with a spare CR123A set and L2D-CE on Eneloop and 2 spare AA Energizer lithium sets. Does your Maglite 3D keeps working well during winter with the alkaline batteries?

I keep a MagLED 2D in my truck and I also have an Arc AAA-P in it. As much grief as Mag Lights take around here, they are ultra reliable, long running and perform just fine for most every need.

They are also cheap enough that I won't freak if the alkaline cells in it leak.

PT Blast in the glove box
fauxton on the car keys
5mm LED headlamp in the back end with the first aid kit supply box

And then, of course, I don't ever leave my residence without my manpurse which contains no fewer than 4 flashlights.

I keep an Underwater Kinetics Sunlight 6 in my console and a Pelican King Light in my trunk. Both very bright incans with great runtime, waterproof, and the King Light has a double-filament lamp for backup. Not lithium-powered, so I test the batteries once in a while(about once every six months). I also keep a Streamlight Stylus 3 in my sun visor when I need less light.

Small sidetrack: Hey Phantom, I know your sigline is what the Swedish Chef sings at the beginning of his segment on "The Muppet Show". I have always wondered if that was gibberish or real language. What does it mean? (Or does anyone know?). I love The Muppet Show!!!

I started a similar thread on this almost two years ago I think and I've changed my loadout significantly as well as my vehicle. My new truck has all sorts of neat storage places for flashlights and tools and I have almost all of them filled. As of this moment I have:

Center Console: 2 Surefire L4's and a Rayovac Sportsman Xtreme headlamp.
Passenger seat map pocket: A Surefire U2 clipped for quick access.
Secondary glove box: A Surefire G2L with beamshaper and a Streamlight TL-3.
Driver's side door map pocket: Inova X03
Rear seat storage compartment: Mag 4D w/magled upgrade.
There is also a 3 million CP Brinkmann spotlight that resides in the backeat and then there's my EDC which varies.

I had a Maglite 3d for similar reasons to you Jzmtl, one day I went to use it and it didn't turn on. Tried to unscrew the tailcap, but the Energizer alkalines had leaked. That is maybe the third device of mine that Energizer has killed, from now on its lithium all the way for me for car duty.

I now have a Surefire G2L with one spare set of batteries.

If you're in a colder part of Canada in winter lithium batteries might also be worth considering because of their better resistance of temperature variation...

Just my 2 cents :)

ok: need flashlight to keep in my car!
Best flashlight for: Home, Car, Outdoors?
good led light to leave in car?
couple more to add to yours DM51

this would probably be my 5th time changing my lights on the car...but after awhile you tend to figure out which is not the best of options and whats best to suit your needs

Driver side light was the Inova XO3, replaced by Surefire A2-WH since 3 watts is a bit too bright for most tasks and too dim for those applications where I need lots of light [and yeah, its got that horrible YA tint to boot]
Passenger side light was the Dorcy 1watt cr123A, now with inova X5-WH [While I use the X5 most of the time If someone else is driving I leave it there because it fits perfectly in the hole on the armrest]
right smack in the middle light was two streamlight styluses, now Mag 6D with xenon thrown in with meal bars, water, canned beans, duct tape, etc. [the 6Ds in there because its getting near winter, I dare not leave anything alkaline based on the car in the summer

Whats on me: [EDC] Surefire A2-WH on belt, Surefire L4 on belt, Garrity keychain with my thumbdrive around my neck, fenix P1-CE around my neck, and stylus in breast pocket

I'm contemplating on bringing extra lights though:ohgeez:
something tells me I need something HID based

A 5 C Cell Maglight and an Inova X0 (old style Tiros) are carried in each vehicle. I like two lights, one for each my wife and myself.

What's in my truck...

SF A2 above the visor.

SF L4 in center console.

SF M6 positioned in dash.

Bulbs and (24) SF cells in glovebox.

Dorcy Super 1 Watt : inexpensive, small - doesn't take up valuable glovebox space, cr123=long storage life and good in cold weather, bright enough for most things, nice tint.

I carry a Mag 3D with LED drop in, bolted under the hood in the engine compartment, on a fenderwell.

For those of you that are having issues with batteries seizing in the battery chamber og Mags, try the following to PREVENT it:

- liberally spray silicone lubricant into the battery tube, enough to coat the sidewall's. Next roll up your batteries in a single sheet of thin paper and insert into the battery tube. The silicone spray prevents seizing of the batteries if they leak, and prevents the leaked acids from sticking to the battery tube sidewalls.
