To reference RCR123's and 18650's what is considered a heavy load on these cells, 1amp +? Trying to decide what cells and brands I need to focus on regarding cells for the Dereelight C2H and DBS...

I do have a Duratrax ICE Charger so I am set there. I have had it for about 3 years and still running like a champ.

Thanks,
Dave

Hello Dave,

Li-Ion cells are designed to work well up to loads of 1C. They are capable of loads higher than that, but it will reduce cycle life. They perform very well at 0.5C loads.

With R-CR123 cells coming in at about 650 mAh, a 1C load would be 0.65 amps. There is a little more variability with the 18650 cells, but if you had one with a capacity of 2000 mAh, a 1C load would be 2.0 amps.

The DBS isn't considered to be "hefty" as far as loads are concerned on the 18650 cells it is designed to use. It will run a little over 0.5C. Not bad at all.

The C2H might be a little harder on an RCR123, either way, neither light is pushing any thresholds that would be reason for alarm.
