Hi all,

I am thinking to purchase a backup light which is powered by a single 18650 battery.
Essentially, the light will be a backup for Solarforce L900 (a 3x18650 torch).

I have searched a bit and foundout that these models are good:
1. LumaPower Encore Digital EDC LED Flashlight Cree Q5 WD, 180 lumens ($56.95)
2. Fenix L0D-CE Q4 CREE LED FLASHLIGHT LOD 75 ($50) - 1xAAA torch. - ignore this!!!
3. FENIX TK11 CREE Q5 LED Flashlight 225 lumens +18650 BK ($76)

So these are the ones i found as options.
Are there other good options?
I am looking for something which has multiple modes (atleast 2) for longer run times.
The light should be a good path finder when used in low mode and should have a decent run time when used in full brightness.
Usage conditions are open spaces and plantations, 99% of the time no other lighting other than moon light.

And where can i find the best price with international shipping?

I am also ok buying a decent/sparingly used torch.

please suggest.

The TK11 is a well liked choice and is available shipping included from here.

Use code CPF8 for a discount :)

easy: forget Fenix for that application, they simply dont make any good 18650 offer.

"best" is something the user has to decide for himself (size/runtime/spot-flood, ...),
imho the new Jetbeam lights are the best offer atm,
with the Jetbeam Jet III Pro ST being my favorate production 18650 light - doing all You want from the backup
(I got mine from brightlumens, quick shipping, good price. But found that shop just by google-search, so ...)

Another option is a Dereelight CL1H V4 (More compact) or DBS V2 (Real thrower).
These both can take either 2 CR123s or 1 18650 and have interchangeable pills which suit one or the other configuration.
They have had very good reviews and ship internationally (from Hong Kong I think).

Jetbeams seem to have good output options.
But, To me all these are looking the same:
Jet-III Pro ST
Jet-III Pro Ultra
Jet Pro-III I.B.S.

can some one please take me through these models? I am having hard time to understand the differences and if they can perform better than
FENIX TK11 CREE Q5 ?

I would put the CL1H at or near the top of the list, and the Jet III Pro ST right up there with it.
The Deree is a better thrower, but the ST is a handily smaller form factor that makes an "almost" EDC light.

I love my Jetbeam Jet III Pro ST, it's so versatile, so much so that i now want to get Jetbeams (with the IBS) in all their sizes, AA/CR123 and 18650 (want the military model).

You can read reviews here on CPF (do a search for Jetbeam) or at http://light-reviews.com

Should you want to get a Jetbeam, go here http://www.jetbeam.com.cn/links/dealerinfo/ and check out if they have a dealer either in the country where you are, or nearer.

Best is a Romisen M4 with a Deerelight Q5 drop-in. Amazing output and quality for $45.

Even though there hasn't been much talk about it on CPF, the Eagletac T10L looks pretty nice. It has the same overall output (according to light-reviews.com output readings) as the T10C2 which has been proven to be 270+ lumens out the front!!! On top of that it has perfectly flat runtime on both the high and low settings.

Jet-III Pro is better than -M ob 18650. Besides Dereelight CL1H 3SD or EagleTac T10L are decent lights too. Especially T10L - general (60lm) mode is good for walking, high is really bright and has decent runtimes.

Best imo is the Dereelight CL1H V4 with 3SD driver and 5A Q3 LED for better color rendition. It comes with both smooth and OP reflectors so you can alter the beam profile for more throw or flood according to your own tastes. And it's upgradeable as well.

+1 for the CL1H, it's one of the few lights specifically designed for 18650's

+1 for the EagleTac T10L.

Or... the Dereelight DBS for really long range illumination.

Both of these two options are fully regulated on a single 18650, and are the best performers in their class, hands down.

'swordfish2' has Solarforce L900 which throws better than Spear or DBS...
