It's as bright as all three of the Nichia DS' in my Lunasol, but it runs at much lower current than they do. I really want to get some of these, but I can't find the brand and model anywhere. Is it a state secret or what?

That's not very nice, Fred. People don't buy your lights because of the run-of-the-mill emitters and drivers, they buy them because of the excellent machining and finishing. (At least, that's why I bought not one but two of your lights.) Keeping the emitter in the Killer a secret isn't gaining you any business -- if people just wanted a bright 5mm LED in an AAA form factor, they could (and do) buy an Arc AAA for a third of the price, or a Fenix E01 for a tenth of the price.

To my knowledge, this is either another attempt at your very strange sense of humor fyrstormer, or it's an uncalled for attack at Fred's integrity. My suggestion to you would be either to ask him this question via PM away from the public eye, or keep silent until you can think of something constructive and positive to say in HIS forum.

fyrstormer,

You fail to mention that I offered to sell you some of the 5-die LEDs, but you never took me up on the offer. And the price was perfectly reasonable, at $1 each.

Would the brand name and model make any difference in how the 5-die LED performs?

Actually, the drivers and LEDs in most all of my lights are pretty off-the-shelf, standard offerings, so I doubt that they play much of a factor in the buying decisions of my customers. I think that design, fit and finish, are what entice folks to buy my offerings. And for custom lights, it is my willingness to design lights that incorporate as many of the customer's requested features as possible. And I model them in SolidWorks so that the buyer has a pretty good idea as to what they will actually receive.

I thank you for your concern.

I'm sorry Fred, I guess I never got that email, due to whatever the problems were with my email account that kept getting in the way during my most recent purchase. If the offer is still open, I would like to buy a few of the emitters. There's no need to respond to that in public either way, because I'm really not trying to set anyone up to look like a jerk, including myself.

No, knowing the name of the emitter wouldn't affect it's operation. I said, and you agreed, that the drivers and emitters in your other lights are standard offerings -- and I went on to say that it's really the excellent machining work that you've built your customer base on, which I mean in all sincerity -- so I don't understand why you're keeping the emitter in the Killer a secret since it isn't really a selling point.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to be funny this time, nor smarmy for that matter. I'm not sure why anyone would've interpreted it as either one. I thought I took the time to express myself as plainly as possible.
