What reflector ?

My dive light project is coming along nicely... I'm using a Maxflex feeding 4 x Q5 into a quad optic: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1915 as a first prototype on the test bench.

It's pretty good...it gives a very strong hotspot and will probably be fine underwater but...."fine" is not good enough . I'm looking to try running 5 x Q5's now. I need to stick with a 50mm diameter width as the internal diameter of my housing is 52mm. This, I think, means I need reflectors with 17mm diameter maximum ?? . Does anyone know a source for such reflectors at a reasonable price ? $15 e.a or so is way over budget for me.

I think using some good quality reflectors will have a similar effect then using a fifth LED. Are you using TIR Lenses actually?

A light summary: Carclo 20mm Lens 70% efficiency, IMS 20mm 85%, MCR17 17mm nearly 90%.

The quad I am testing claims to be a TIR optic but the spec gives no efficiency rating. I suspect it loses a fair bit of light which is why I am looking at using single reflectors. I just think $15 each is too much money when I don't have an idea whether 5 x McR17's will give me a narrow enough beam pattern. The IMS might be worth a try but there is scant information on the Shoppe website about their products..

The IMS seem to be worth a shot...but I see they aren't made for Cree led's...
