I am looking for a good Glove Box light, where it can remain for a while without having to worry about battery corrosion. I live in Michigan, so I have hot & cold climates.

I suspect I will be looking at a CR123 battery or a litium cell, which is fine. It's been a while since I bought a light, so I am wonding what the current choices are.

If you don't mind buying lithium AA/AAA batteries it opens up a lot of possibilities in lights. I recommend a headlamp in your glovebox also in case you need hands free to work on something like changing a tire. I have 4 lights in my car.
3AAA craftsman luxeon
3AA taskforce luxeon
3AAA cheap 3x5mm headlamp
4AA Energizer doublebright LED/CCFL.
I only have lithiums in the doublebright for now as it is a lot more expensive to replace and probably my long runtime area light of the bunch.

I have bought several AA lights from China on eBay for less than $10.00 including shipping, that advertise over 200 lumens. I question the output, but its not too far off as they are a very bright white light. They have a clicky button and just one setting, but for a glove box light, they are an exceptional value. The listings I found were under Cree Q5.

Great for the glove box, purse, pocket or non-
aficionado.

For a bit more money, I'd recommend the Fenix LD20.

Go to one of the big sheds and just buy something off the shelf, stick a lithium in it and your worries are over.No real point buying anything different if it is just going to live in your car.

Just go for anything cheap and put a Lithium Primary in it.

I have a Romisen RC-U4 fitted with three AAA Energiser Lithiums in the door pocket plus a Trustfire F20 with an AA Energiser in the glove box ... I also carry spare Energiser Lithiums.

I do have an ITP A3 on each of my two keyrings plus an ITP A2 in my pocket ... These contain Eneloops , so really I don't need the torches in the car.
.

I've got a Romisen RC-C6 II in both of my cars. It uses a CR123 (or RCR123) and has an adjustable beam with two brightness levels.

The ability to adjust the beam from flood to throw is very handy. Plus the flood is nice and bright without too much of a hotspot for closeup work. They've come in very handy many times in the couple of months I've had them.

I'd consider an itp A1. It is 25 bucks and uses a single CR123. It is a twisty which is more reliable than a clickie switch with no danger of accidently coming on when you hit a bump.

It has 3 modes, 3, 30, 200 lumen. Decent build quality for the price.

It is pretty floody so great for changing a tire or viewing an area. Not great for throwing 300 feet, though not sure why you'd need to. It has a clip so you can easily reverse the clip and attach it to a hat or something to work on a tire.

It is also very small at 2.3 inches long and doesn't take up much space. I use it as a keychain light with an RCR123, but for you, the CR123 makes the most sense.

Lithium batteries also work in extreme cold unlike alkaline or NiMH.

Your A1 has a different output to mine, strange
Low 1.8 lm (150 Hrs) --- Medium 35 lm (8 Hrs) --- High 190 lm (1.6 Hrs)

Close enough. My stats came from goinggear. Maybe they used an RCR123 or something for it.

But anyways, its a good light and excellent for a cheap glovebox light.

I have a couple of those 22000mcd keychain lights from :sick2: that use lithium cells in my glovebox. When I'm on trips out of the metropolitan area, I throw in an Akoray (programmable, 14500 Li battery) and a Zebralight H50 headlamp.
