I've decided to get a Nitecore D10... but, I have two options. The Cree XR-E Q5 WC and the Cree R2. What is the difference between the two? Is it just the color? Is one better? Is it worth the 4 dollars more for the R2? Thanks for the help everyone.

R2 is on average 7% brighter than the Q5, as it's the next bin up of the same model LED.

I believe the ramping is slightly tweaked also.

I've been seeing that word a lot and I really haven't found an explanation or definition. So, what is meant by "bin"? Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions.

A bin is a grading scale for the efficacy or tint or Vf of an LED. From the Welcome Mat:

Q: What's "bin"?
A: Bin codes are used to sort LEDs by luminous flux (lumen output at a specified drive level), color, tint, and Vf. For example, a U-bin Lux III will have more output than a T-bin Lux III at a set drive level. Commonly desirable flux bins (at the time of writing) are:
-Lux I: R or S
-Lux III: T or U
-Lux V: W or X
-XR-E: Q2 through R2
-SSC P4: U or V
-Rebel: 0080 or 0100

Thanks mr.snakeman! Flashlights are an entirely new realm to me. Over the past months I've found an interest in EDC items like knives, multi tools, lighters, and flashlights. There is a lot more evolving technology in flashlights though. Thats why I came here. I guess I have to find some time to look over the welcome mat faq's to get fimilar with the technology.
