What's with Oracle/AAC Customer Service?

A good friend purchased an Oracle 24W on my recommendation last year and he just had the battery malfunction on him. Apparently the battery will not hold a charge. He called AAC to see about a replacement and was told the warranty had expired - it had just expired, within days.

The salesman was very inflexible and would not replace the battery, even though it was clearly a defective product.

So... I'm having a hard time imagining that I will be able to recommend this product and this company to anyone else again.

Is there someone there who can make this right and get my friend a battery?

Not to sound abusive but warranties expire for a reason. It's always really nice when a company extends grace beyond a warranty term but I personally never expect that. Usually, a kind request by phone goes a long way when it comes to a situation like this but ultimately it's the retailer's call. When you say that you're like to have it "made right" I'm not certain that any wrong has been done.

I understand that perspective, but since this generation of batteries had known issues I thought it was a little tacky to not give my friend a grace period of a couple of days..
