Since we're on the topic of science and God, I figured I would start a new post on religion.

I am a Bible Christian, non-denominational aka "The Local Church" via Living Stream Ministry (www.lsm.org)

AMEN!!!

Re: What\'s Your Religion?

I am a Melchizedek, Eck Master, and Pagan. Where Pagan = NOT Jewish, Christian, or Moslem. I don't subscribe to any Organized Religion.

I was raised in one of the most regimented and intolerant mainstream 'Christian' denominations around: Methodist. Their entire focus was 'saving' the South Korean Buddhist Heathen Savages and preaching against Gays and Witches.

My friends are Wiccans. The only ones I trust with my life. Wiccans and New Age people are surprisingly tolerant and without hate.

Kind of hard to say that about Monotheists. Just look at the intolerance and hate that surfaced over Gays wanting the legal right to get married.

Re: What\'s Your Religion?

sorry for my lacking knowledge, but what is a Melchizedek, a Pagan and a Wiccan?

I am an atheist.

Re: What\'s Your Religion?

Another atheist here.

I was lightly involved with a rather infamous(?) religious group for a while when I was quite young. Became a hardcore atheist afterwards, not wanting anything to do with anything remotely religious (choir performances, holidays, etc).

But I have now mellowed somewhat, since the holidays are as much religious as they are traditional (and great fun!) and I enjoy occassionally going to church to hear my friends sing.

Re: What\'s Your Religion?

Religion and Spirituality are not the same thing. Fortunately.

Melchizedek is the Order of Melchizedek: The Greater Mysteries. If you want to know more, check out www.astara.org and I am an Eighth Degree Astarian. You don't have to accept any of it. Astara is at the top of the Christian Fundamentalist Hit List.

Eck is Soul Travel. The organization is Eckankar, even though I neve formally belonged to it, I was recognized by those that I met.

Pagan is defined as those who are NOT Christian, Jewish, or Moslem. Wicca is Witchcraft (Craft of the Wise) and is principally Nature based, with a Goddess and a God. No human sacrifice or any of that bunk involved.

Actually I have a much higher ranking in The Order of Melchizedek (Universal Order) than just a Melchizedek.

I am also a Member of the Great White Brotherhood, where in order to be a member, your Aura must be Pure White. Nothing to do with skin color at all. It is a Spiritual Order.

I have been a member of the Order of Borchakoun (Order of Avatars) for more years than you can possible imagine.

Remember that I always Speak from Spirit and not the Flesh, and you might get the Idea.

It might be a subject that could stir things up so it might not be a good idea. Everyone tends to believe that his or her God is the only one so it could get nasty. Let’s be respectful and tread lightly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just for the record, Please be respectful of other people’s feelings.

Re: What\'s Your Religion?

Leb... Thank you! And I'll add my pre-emptive (not so pre-emptive?) "Ditto" to that! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

For the record... my previous post was in response to bryguy42's post. I won't quote it or repeat it here as I don't feel that it should be repeated or saved for posterity... and I'm hoping that perhaps he will rethink his comment as inappropriate and edit it.

Re: What\'s Your Religion?

When asked by strangers as to what church I attend I usually respond "Druid". What religion I practice is nobodys business but my own.

Discussing religion and politics in public is like trying to train a cat to do tricks.....frustrates the trainer and pisses off the cat. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rant.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

Re: What\'s Your Religion?

So now I'm a happy free thinking,tolerant,Athiest.
Peace-Phil. :-)

Re: What\'s Your Religion?

I try to live my life based on right and wrong. I don't do "grey" very well... (as in grey areas). I try to use common sense.

Officially I'm a Roman Catholic. Don't attend mass very often, but do pray a LOT!

Re: What\'s Your Religion?

Some good answers here!

I have turned my back on organized religions as I feel that for the most part, they are man made with intent on serving man. My religion must encompass the universe as I know it and go well beyond my severe limitations. As I've grown older, my awareness of mortality; both mine and that of others has increased. From the sub atomic to the multiple universes, particles of energy exist and are organized in structures with what one might call meaning and reason; in abeyance to perceived laws of physics. Due to something too amazing for this simpleton to fathom, some of these particles have become a structure typically identified by myself as well as others as *me*. Every second, some particles leave this structure and others join it. Do they come or leave with learned or recorded experience or knowledge? When *my* structure finally disbands, am *I* then gone? In physical, I think yes, in essence, I think no. This amassed structure of stardust that I know as *me* is having its moment of existence and the chance to walk and swim on this planet. I have my chance to contribute and effect change or evolution on other organized entities, both animate and inanimate. I can create and destroy. I can modify or leave as is. Finding a path to follow and enjoying the experience and sights along the way is my religion. My self awareness is my spirit and I haven't a clue as to whether this self awareness can or will transcend the organization of particles I see reflected in a mirror. My gut guess is yes but my understanding or knowledge is absent; if even possible.

Currently, I find myself to be a member of the church of life. It's one heck of a congregation and when I take the time to think about it, it just blows me away with wonder and the possibilities.
