There are many batterries for LED flashlight.such as AA, AAA, CR123a, 18650,which one you like most?or which one much suitable for the LED flashlight?:poke:

I prefer AAs to anything else. For day-to-day use, NiMH rechargeables have awesome performance at almost zero cost, while a pack of Lithiums for emergencies can be used years after bought. And in a pinch, AA alkalines are really easy to get.
 
123's. Even though when buying direct from retail (Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens etc) can be more expensive than AA's the ability to store them for long period's of time and there ability to withstand different temperatures (Here in arizona, Summer's are really hot (it can get up to 113F), and winters are really cold (Below 32F isn't impossible) )
 
Yes, all of you give me your choice but no reson.I hope you can give me a simply reason why you like the battery you pick up.such as , so many people told me that you like CR123a,but more of them just told me the type with no reason,but I guess most of you like CR123a ,maybe for its big capacity, but small body,right?
Any more, a new idear from my engineer .he told me that the PWM has some ralationship with the battery , such as ,two 123a can make the brightest illumination, but one AA can't keep the highest brightness,and two 123a can operate no PWM(digital contstant current control),this is aslso some reason for the people who like CR123a.so what's about your idea for more function of different battery?
 
I prefer NiMH AAs and AAAs. Good power, proven and safe technology, prevalent in stores, and lower cost per watt than lithium rechargeables.
 
As you mentioned discussing cell chemistries and their capabilities with your engineer, and you're asking us which kind of cell we prefer and why, it really sounds like you're doing market research for your company's upcoming products. If you can't do your research by simply reading and interacting normally, that kind of thread is probably best kept to the Marketplace. :)
 
Depending on the size of the light I intend to carry, LIR123 or 18650.
The AA-Eneloops are nice too.

I like the small size and power of 123 size cells but they are too finicky to be used by regular folks.

But at last, newer AA lights are being made that almost rivals Lights that uses 123 cells (now this point can be debated but not for this thread.! :naughty:)

I myself is migrating to Just AA and AAA lights (only single cells.). And I mostly will use Nimh cells - Free-lumen's donchaknow ? .

They are the cheapest and easiest to obtain. Reasonable cost even if you have to get it in in pinch (alkies).

With newer LED's such as Cree, SSC and Rebel LEDs you are getting good run time with great lumens from single AA or AAA cells.

So I will be sticking to them from now on.

Probably 18650, then CR123/16340, then AA. 18650 since it's already approximately the proper voltage for LEDs, has high capacity in a good size, etc. CR123/16340 because it's small but still has good capacity, voltage is near the proper voltage for LEDs which translates into more efficiently driven LEDs so you're getting more out of the battery vs. a similar capacity cell such as a AA that is going to use a less efficient circuit to reach the proper voltage (so in effect, more of the energy in the AA will go to waste vs. a CR123). A CR123/16340 light also has the advantage of both many options in rechargeables at both 3.0V and 3.7V, protected and unprotected, as well as primaries in case you want the longer runtime or are in a pinch and need to buy a battery. AA's because of their size/dimensions, can be found anywhere and everywhere and are dirt cheap. If most LED lights could readily accept both AAs and 14500's, giving the advantages of both convenience (AA) and efficiency (14500), that would probably be my first choice.

My favorite is the L91 for it's low weight, flat discharge curve and power density.
 
Definitely AA sized Sanyo Eneloops. Low discharge cells, decent capacity, a cell I can count on to work without recharging before use. Provides guilt-free lumens and nothing going to the landfill.
