Cant seem to find an existing thread that answers my question good enough, so here we go...

Since I am quite satisfied with my collection so far, Im been looking for the next step in flashlights. I dont have a HID light so...

Which HID light is the best to get regarding price under say $500? Size should not be larger than 13" in lenght. I dont know about the output, should be as much as possible with runtime close to an hour at least.

I have seen a couple of diffrent HID:s, but Im really in the dark regarding HID:s.

I wont be buying one any time soon since they are to pricey for me right now, thought I would start early so I know what I want when I do have the cash for it! :)

If you have a Sam's club near you, it's hard to beat the 35w. "Power on Board" HID spot light. Not all Sam's have them. Regular price is 98 bucks and some change. I have bought several at the Sam's club auction for $50.00 to $60.00 and that includes shipping. I do not like the on/off switch location, but as far as bang for the buck........it's hard to beat. They are also on E bay for around $50-60.00 too. It's a fun light, with a long throw.

I've been happy with my microfire 2000R.
Search the dealer area for closeouts. Cannot remember who.

Flashspy, you need to take a good look at the N30 from www.amondotech.com

It's less than $150, less than 4 pounds, puts out more than 3000 lumens, has 7 LEDs on the handle for low lighting tasks, and is almost tiny by any 3000-lumen standard. Do some research and you'll know what I'm talking about.

I kinda had in mind handheld, like almost pocketable... but after seen the N30 Im not so sure anymore... I think that could be a good place to start off from, to still my hunger some.

Thanks so far for your help! You have helped me not stop my hunger for lights! :twothumbs :D

If its something that you can stick in a coat pocket try a Wolf Eyes Boxer or one of the Microfires.

I have LOADS of lights(LED, Ican, & HID), but it is my N30's that get the most use these days.
It really is the best first HID if you want to get something that is inexpensive
and very useable. You can get cheaper HID's but their extra size will cost more to ship to ship to Sweden. You can get smaller 24 watt HID's but the cost a lot more and do not put out nearly as much light.

Take Care,

I wish they used the more efficient and better looking 4200K bulb. The pocketable HID's all seem to use 6000K or higher.
