I was looking at lights that use the 16850 cell and stumbled upon the L-mini, its about 35$

What gives? why is it so cheap compared to other lights using the 16850 cell that seems like a steal!

It's not really, other are just more expensive. Manufacturing costs for a generic multimode, single cell 18650 like flashlight is about $15 anyway.

;) .. It's not ... cheap .......... it's just in-expensive.

And it's a nice light.

I don't know why he *reduced* the price - he really should charge more.

it IS a good deal
.

am i really missing something here? i dont understand whats wrong.....

I hope I'm wrong but I believe he was pointing out that Michigans economy sucks right now. Being from California he has that luxury.....................

As a fellow Michigander I feel justified in saying that THAT statement was pretty ******* rude!

I admit, I didn't get it either, but have to agree with alibaba.

Where can I get this "l-mini", I am somewhat of a fan of the 18650 lights my self. A link or somthing perhaps?

.270winchester, if your comment in post #2 was meant as a joke, it fell very flat indeed and was not funny at all. If it was not meant as a joke, it was offensive, and I hope there will be no further comments of that nature.

There has been too much off-topic posting in this thread. Please keep to the topic, or the thread will be closed.

Where can I get this "l-mini" ...

From my POV this is exactly one reason why this light costs less than comparable: the manufacturer does not invest much in marketing. AFAIK you won't find any fancy ads for this light, which do cost a lot of money.

I think lightbug is clearing the 1st generation (v1, 2, 3) of the lights before the 2nd generation arrives. The battery tube of the 1st generation was small, some protected 18650 may not fit.
I believe in addition to a larger battery tube the next batch is down to 3 modes, dropping the strobe & SOS.

The design of the light is also very simple. No machined flats on the body. No lumpy bumpy head & tail. No crenalated bezel. This simple design makes the light a lot easier and less expensive to make.

With most lights there are at least 3 people making money. The factory, the distributer & the retailer. Lightbug is buying direct from the factory cutting out the middleman.

L-mini on the bottom. It is much smaller than the normal 18650 torch.

2 main reasons.

1.) To let others know about this light. So it is kinda like promotional price.
2.) It is a first generation light, many areas still need to be improved. But the materials it used is better than most lights out there in the similar price range. Not many lights under price of $40 use brass for better heat dissipation.

The L-Mini is a well made extremely compact 18650 torch that offers exceptional value for the low asking price.

One of the genuine bargains out there and as a bonus is available from a dealer who's a pleasure to deal with.

Brass is not better than aluminium for heat dissipation, I think they used brass there because you can solder to brass and not to alu...
If they idea was to improve heat dissipation, they would use copper, which is also easy to solder, but copper is more expensive than brass or alu :)

Its there because it saves money...

alibaba: The economy isn't so great here in CA either :duh2: .

+1 on the lousy economy, same here in beautiful New England!! Off subject, but just had my home appraised at (1 years salary) less than we paid 2 years ago.

Hopefully this thread recovers- good initial question!! Now you have me interested in the light, as well.

At least we have our flashlights!!
