I'd buy one. I'd love to see available 2xAA, 17500, 17670/2x123, and 18650 extension tubes for the Novatac EDC. With all the guys making Surefire/Aleph bodies, it seems like somebody could make them for Novatacs without too much trouble. Plus, it's an untapped market.

Or is there something about the Novatac design that makes an aftermarket body impossible or impractical?

I think the spring makes it a bit harder but not insurmountable problem for the aftermarket guys. Also they would run a risk that as soon as they make the case Novatac will come out with one. (They promised a 2AA body IIR)

Lighthound is selling old stock of OEM (possibly 2nds) body, but only in 17670 and cr123 size.

This question has been asked before but nobody responded.

Thanks for the heads-up on the 17670 cases. I've got one on the way for my U60XRGT.

Just got mine. Definitely not a second. No cap (just the body and knurled, flush switch). Anodization is perfect and a 100% match to my HDS. Just under 2 hours on max with a AW 17670.

Are the HDS and Novatac battery cases interchangeable?

YES.
But there is a difference in allowed battery configurations.

HDS have a max of 7.2V IIRC (2xCR123 or 1x li-Ion are ok)
Novatac have a max of 4.2V! Only use with 1 CR123 or 1 Li-Ion (2x CR123 = :poof:)
