will there be \"R\" for dropin ?

Wayne,
we got Q3 drop in.. then will there be R2 drop in?
thanks

Re: will there be

Um, i think Wayne is working on the R2H + MM+ right now.

Re: will there be

While supplies last....

If I can get the modules made before they sell on the store, there will be R's available.

Re: will there be

Cooooool!
that should be the king of 2AA powered light !!
awaiting for your good news!

Re: will there be

Wayne,
How can we order these (MM+R2H)?
I received the MM+Q3s that I ordered and my brothers love
them /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
This was their first Luxeon. They were impressed with the
brightness and how white the beams are.
Also are you still going make MM+WO or MM+Q3 WO? I still
have to get some for the grandchildren, nephews, etc.
Thanks for making these great sandwiches & for having the
Krolls & lens available for one stop shopping!!!
Best Regards

Re: will there be any R MM modules?

Wayne,

I was going to start a new thread, but I see that one has already been started.

I have a semi-complete firefly on order, and would really like to put something special in there. Any chance of putting a R2H or R2L MM modules?

On a similar question for reference purposes, what was the bin and dome of the LS put in the turnkey McLux's?

It just never ceases to amaze me, how nice that light is. That was a BadBoy 400 right? What was the bin rating, and was that High dome or Low Dome.

Thanks,

Re: will there be any R MM modules?

I ran into a snafu with modules now coming out of my ears, but, I have no optics. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'm hand building some R2s as we speak. I have 15 MM+ Adjustable with R2H on them and I have another 32 R2Ks that have been yanked off the stars. What they will become I have yet to decide. I think they will be a mix of different types. BB400, MM regular WO and MM+ WO.

On the turnkey MxLuxs I think they all used Q3s LD and BB400s.

Re: will there be any R MM modules?

Wayne, suppose you tune a Madmax/R2H to deliver 200 mA to the LED with 1.2 volts in (i.e. one AA NiMH).

Any idea what the LED current would be if you now increase the input voltage to 1.7V (fresh AA lithium) or decrease it to 0.9V (pooped out AA alkaline)?

Will the Madmax run efficiently at such low input voltages (0.9V, or even its 0.8V limit)? If not, is there some way to tweak the circuit to work efficiently at those low voltages and still not overdrive the LED at 1.7 volts?

Would anything blow up if you accidentally connect a cr123
(3 volts) to that circuit?

I think there's a lot of pent-up desire on CPF for one-cell Luxeon lights and it's best if those can work reasonably well across the whole range of possible AA voltages.

Re: will there be any R MM modules?

I would like a white/bluish white high flux with low Vf on a MM+ adj. please advice. (pesky me won't give up)

Re: will there be any R MM modules?

Wayne, I would like one of the R2H on a MM+ you mentioned above if you have them for sale. Tell me how much and I will Paypal immediately.

I have the optics for one.

Please tell me what the difference between a R2H and a R2K.

I would like the better of the two mounted on a MM please!

Please let me know the price!

Re: will there be any R MM modules?

Woohoo!
An R2H BB400 would be sweet! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif I will take it without the optics, gotta have an R2H (or a K would be fine also) I will be going out of town next week for 6 days, I will probably miss it.

Re: will there be any R MM modules?

Wayne, do you think it's feasible to make a Badboy-like constant current converter that can work down to 0.8 volts in like the Madmax can? That would be just the ticket for a one cell light that can run on either L91's, regular AA's, or NiMH. It's ok if the output current decreases somewhat once Vin gets below 1.1 volts or so. It should not decrease at 1.2 volts because that's a charged NiMH cell.

R2H has a lower forward voltage than R2K. This means that at the same applied voltage, more current will flow through R2H.

Do you know this, or is it just conjecture based on the bin ratings?

So for the FIRST letter, Higher is better, and the SECOND number, higher is better, but for the THIRD number, LOWER is better.

Is that a fair statement?

Thanks

EDIT: I mixed up my high and low. I thought...
A=high and Z=low
but actually,
A=low and Z=high.
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif Sorry for the misinformation BuddTx. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: will there be any R MM modules?

BuddTX,

I beg to differ with IlluminatingBikr and state as far as the letters go, you are correct. As to the color bin number, I agree that 3 is likely target but it is a judgement call as well as major lottery spin as to what you see agreeing with the bin number for the color. Soon, Lumileds will have new bin rankings for color so it will be a new game. Typically, the higher the letter, the higher the corresponding range of number value. For luminous output, higher is better (first letter). For Vf, lower implies more efficiency; typically desired but not always the case and therefor lower letter is preferred (third letter).
