Hey guys,

I'm trying to find a good wire for soldering and assembling Aleph light engines (24 AWG is the size that was recommended) - no Radio Shack brand wire for me!

So, I've been talking to a company that does really small runs of custom wire (basically whatever you want), and they asked a BUNCH of questions that I frankly don't know the answer to!

Here's what they asked:

1) The type of Teflon® we insulate with is FEP and we do have stock several different uninsulated conductor strandings/materials/finishes in #24 AWG. We also can insulate with Tefzel® - a fluoropolymer similar to FEP Teflon® but tougher (and a lower service temperature).

2) what stranding (e.g. solid, 7, 19, 26, 41, 105, 266, etc.)?

3) what conductor material (soft copper, cadmium copper alloy, cadmium free alloy, etc.)?

4) what surface finish (bare, tinned, silver plated, nickel plated, etc.)?

5) what wall thickness (or final overall O.D.) are you seeking?

SO, can anyone help a guy out with answers to these questions? I like that they can make the wire that you want, however I'm still clueless as to what wire I want!! :sick2:

Thanks,
john
