I really like the Smart PD Piston design that McGizmo invented, and licensed to NiteCore.

However, I also like the shape and feel of the NiteCore Extreme.

I would like to see a Smart PD NiteCore in a NiteCore Extreme formfactor (or something similar).

The most important feature for me, would be the "lip" at the end of the light (where the piston would be).

So the question is, would you buy a NiteCore PD in a single CR123 battery size, with a NiteCore Extreme formfactor?

Thanks!

I am suprised that there are so few votes, as this style seems to be one of the most popular single CR123 formfactor, and the SmartPD makes for a very reliable "rear forward clickie" style light.

Can you tell I am biased!!!:sssh:

I just voted 'no' because personally I am not happy with the piston system in my EX10 and D10. The action is not smooth even after several cleaning and lubeing operations and occasionally the lights stay on when I try to switch them off because the rings tend to stick. IMHO this design is perfectly OK in a custom made light but might not be totally suitable for mass production.
For this reason my PD lights get no use at all.

On the contrary I am very happy with the Extreme.

Sorry to hear about your lights.

I have 3 SmarTPD, and they all work very nicely, and I did not lube or take apart the lights, and I have 2 more SmartPD lights on order.

However, I am going to get a leather holster built around the NiteCore Extreme, and that will be my EDC.

Unless, I can figure out a way to build a nice leather holster around the EX10 . . .

I have only used the McGuizmo PD and after a 2 minute trial I knew that PD system was for me.

The problem is the McGuizmo PD's cost alot. So, if Nitecore got it similar to the original then they should have no issue selling those.

My compromise: I just purchased the Peak Logan 17500 with pocket clip and momentary on. Plus its QTC via oveready.com (on route to me). My hope is that the UI will be similar to the McGuizmo PD, but of course its going to offer more then just high/low:devil:
