X03 vs lawnmower vs T3

Guess my X03 wasn't 100% indestructible. The bulb assembly and one of the batteries disappeared in the lawn somewhere, too bad because I wanted to see how the lens and LED held up.

Anyway, I need a replacement. I loved the size and power/size of the X03, and there were few situations where I could say I wished it was brighter. I have been looking at a 2008 T3 instead of another X03, but am not sure the extra output justifies the additional cell and size increase. Anyone have any experience with both of them, namely is the new T3 really that much brighter?

Wonder if that's covered under warranty.....

Mowing at night?

The T2 is around the same size (maybe a little longer due to the clicky switch) but puts out more light. It uses the newer K2 TFFC emitter so it will produce less heat. Battery life is rated 4 hours. Output is rated at 125 lumens and those who have been testing are reporting that to be a pretty accurate rating.

I would opt for the T1 or T2,rated at 100 and 125 lumens respectively. The latest specs from INOVA seem to be reasonably accurate. Both lights are smaller than the XO3 but offer improved performance.I do not have a 2008 T3 but based on INOVAs specs(150 lumens)it doesn't look like it's worth it considering the use of another battery.Keep in mind the tints of the 2008 T- series lights tend to be very warm, some like this others may not.
IMHO the 2008 INOVA T1 and T2 represent two of the best values available if your looking for a single stage light.

There is no size increase. The new T3 is externally identical in size to the old XO3. Also, the extra output is a heck a lot more brighter than the orginial XO3, to put in perspective: the new 2008 T1 is brighter than the XO3 by a good margin, so just imagine the new T3...

What do you use the light for?

Looking at this review, there are 1 CR123 and even 1 AA lights that outperform the XO3(at least output wise).

Many people have trouble opening up Inova lights to mod. Now you tell me that all it takes is a lawn mower?!?!(note, I don't own an Inova)

:welcome:

Don't worry, you'll find the bulb assembly and the battery the same way you found the flashlight this time!

Hah well now that I've actually checked all the specs more carefully, y'all are right, the T3 is essentially the same size/weight as the X03. That extra-cell thing threw me off, I was thinking it would be like the difference between a 2 and 3 D cell Maglight or something.

Looks like a T2 it is!

I mainly use it for recharging my glow-in-the-dark plastic jewelry at raves, and occasionally stunning small critters at night when I'm mowing the lawn so they are easier to drive over.

I was thinking maybe the Fenix P3D-CE Q5, L2D-CE Q5, L2T V2.0, Olight T20, and probably many others could work too, like a P60 accepting light (8% off coupon at Fenix Store is "CPF8"). I just wouldn't drive them over with a lawnmower. As you can tell, most light don't like that.

Removing the optic gave Inova more space for a battery.

Drive over. You're using a riding lawnmower then? Don't those have headlights? I mean, don't get me wrong.. the ability to shine a bright beam at something off in the distance is a good thing, but..

At least you won't get sunburn mowing at night. The insect ambush as they are drawn by light is a bit annoying though, I imagine...

And true, others have posted how they are unable to get the head out of Inovas. You probably just made the record for the quickest removal of one of those, but not really in the way you'd have wanted. I can only imagine the noise that made as it got chopped by your mower blade. :duck:

Yeah, a T2 is a good choice for an Inova fan in dire need of a replacement. I almost ended up with one when the 2008 details were leaked... but I got impatient, and got a Surefire for my birthday and it was all downhill from there. ;)

The T2 should meet your needs but UV light works best for charging glow in the dark material.INOVA just happens to offer both the X1 and X5 with UV
LEDs :whistle:Seriously, there are a number of inexpensive UV flashlights that would work for this though none are as nice as INOVAs X5UV. :grin2:

I'm certain Inova claims that their X and T series flashlight bodies can with stand up to 2000lbs of pressure as advertised on the flashlight packaging...:D
