So, I have $150.00 bucks to spend however I want to, and I've decided to buy a nice flashlight. I was thinking about the Tiablo A9 ($130), but wanted to see if there are better flashlights for the price...

I'm looking for something that has a really good throw distance, minimal spill/light leakage, some what long running times, compact body and weather proof.

Currently the flashlights I have are.

Maglite 2D w/ terralux TLE-6EXB
Maglite 2AA w/ terralux mini2 extreme
Maglite 2AA w/ 1-watt LED upgrade (this is actually my sons)
Task Force 1AA LED (quite impressed for the fact that I got this brand new at lowes for $5.78)

Your suggestions and comments are appreciated! Thanks!

I was pretty impressed by one of these. Nice quality and 14,000 or so lux on CR123s (primaries and rechargeables both). There's also a 18650 only version which is even brighter here.

This might be better in the General Flashlights discussion forum.

If you are willing to DIY, a Aspheric Maglite mod will throw further then the Tiablo and the Dereelight DBS(the DBS seems to have more lux figures and more throw then the A9). Ther is also no spill with a Asperic Maglite mod.

You might want to start with the Cree Projection or WF-600 if you want to stay at a lower price. The WF-600 with two 18650 batteries and a charger costs about $50 shipped.

The Dereelight DBS would be your best choice if you don;t want to modify and the WF-600 would be good if you want to stay at a lower price. Both can run on 18650 batteries.
