What happens when you mix:

A toilet scrub:
scrub

and a vase:
vase

I hope you didn't bet on this art deco artifact :D :

Well, you need to add some electronics to the mix: a pic microcontroller, some mosfets, a few resistors, a few luxeon leds, a heatsink, a difuser and a li-ion battery...

and you get this:

luxeons attached to heatsink and difuser over leds:

from the bottom:

potentiometer is used to adjust the speed of the sweep

without the vase:
vasecolor

and here is a sequence of frames:

If you can view DivX files, here is the complete color sweep (480k)

Hope you all like it

'straya, mate!
Sweet! I made a little similar device some time ago - it uses a single Spider HighFlux RGB LED though. it's embedded in a five-inch acrylic ball, i drilled out a cavity, then filled it with epoxy and pressed the board in - left it overnight, now the entire thing is embedded. I gave it to a friend last year, so no photos :(

it took ~10 seconds to run through all the visible spectrum :p

YEAHBUT... What happened to the brush? I had visualized some sort of lighted wand, for cleaning those hard to see areas! Or perhaps a fiber optic treatment of the business end. :wow: Evil Grin.
