Being that two or three of these little buggers have been constructed (and the fact that they are so top-notcher) I believe this review belonges in the general flashlight section. In truth it is a spotlight ,and yes, in a sense a mod. However those sections are not exclusively where this topic belonges so please leave this thread where it is as it will do the most good here.

For those of you who were around earlier this year to see Bigwuss's post regarding his EYEFRYER I would like to say that it was folly of us to believe that his claims were overrated. It's uncommon for the things that are the best and the brightest to go unoticed in the way this was. I confess that my pride in my anduril mod and my stubborn belief that surefire and a couple other BIG proffessional companies had a corner on the max light output market. Never ever agian will I so drasticly underestimate the claims of a person who has hundreds of yards of testing ground to work with.

Last week I spent my vacation with Bigwuss and experienced firsthand the overwhelming power of his creation in all it's firey glory. I have had many bright lights in my time including the 12pm hola and the ultrastinger. The surefire dominater would ceace domination in the face of this peice of bottled sun. In fact the ultrastinger (which many including myself have stated to have a beam superior in output to the m6) seemed to give off a weak and thin beam that had the saturation of a 3d maglite. *ouch*

While the actual numbers will be left to quickbeam I will divulge the secret to its brightness - a 100w lamp taken from a police flasher bar.

after begging for a week to have one made for me Bigwuss finally conceeded to take my dim optronics 2 million cp spotlamp and have it tranformed into the light that the rest of you flashaholics dream of. To get a brighter light than this one must purchase a maxibeam although why you would need or want anything brighter than this is beyond me- I have finally found a light that leaves me bereft of spit each time I turn it on. This light is destined to be on MR. BULK's must have list. It literally has the power to bring you to your nees. My only regret is that A) I did not force him to make this for me sooner and B) that I lived in spot were the danger of being picked up by cops for playing with it was not so real. Even though I live in the country so to speak, this thing is so bright that I risk arrest each time I turn it on. For now it is my designated bump in the night light because the ablility to physicly and mentaly disable an aversary is a comforting thing, for everything else this is overkill.

BWCAW, er bigwuss, here. I did make one of my
EYEFRYER lights for Aragorn, but the real secret
of the light, is the 14.4v Nimh makita battery.
The lamp is not 100 watts, as previously thought,
but tested at 55 watts, but for some unknown
reason, it was brighter than the 100 watter that
the optronics light came with. BTW his is not
really THE EYEFRYER, because he is still using
the stock lead acid 12v battery that came with
his spotlight, but you hook that baby up to a
14.4v Nimh, and that thing ROCKS!!! Not to toot
my own horn here, but the EYEFRYER is really the
brightest incandecent that I have ever seen,
save maybie train headlamps, and aircraft landing
lights.

All that was needed for the construction was an
Optronics spotlight, an EYEFRYER lamp, and a 14.4v
power source. If anyone is interested, I can give
you some pointers, like lamp part no., and battery
info.

Hey guys, have you heard about Kenshiro's "Mod 2"? Almost comparable to the X990! It is a Vector spotlight with 100 watt bulb.

The EYEFRYER that Aragorn is talking about is
actually the EYEFRYER II. The original light
was made from a Makita worklight, as some of
you may remember. The EYEFRYER II is a modified
Optronics 2million CP spot.

I originally bought the spotlight thinking it
would be able to light up the fence row about
a half a mile away. Boy, was I dissapointed.
So, I said to myself:self, why don't you put
the innards out of the EYEFRYER in your new
spotlight? I thought "what the heck, I can't
make it any dimmer". So I did.

Here is a list of what you need: </font><ul type="square">[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Makita 14.4v nimh batt., or equivalent</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Optronics spotlight (either 1, or 2 mil, it doesn't matter)</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Makita worklight.</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Sylvania 55watt lamp (don't remember the part no.)</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Soldering iron</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">wire strippers</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">wire</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">wire nuts</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">no. 1 philips screw driver</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">aluminum foil</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">about three feet of curly cord.</font>[/list]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">That is really all that you
need to make your own EYEFRYER II. Or you could
send me some money, and I will make one for you.
grin.gif

You could probobly make your own for about $125-
$150, if you had the tools. BTW this light does
light up that fence row a half a mile away, and it
will light up a reflecting sign, or post at 3/4,
to 1 mile. Which makes it great for spotting
animals WAY out there.

bwcaw,

Do you have a pic of you EYEFRYER II? Do I really need the Makita worklight? Could you describe how all this parts fit together? Sorry for asking too many questions. I need a strong light like this for outdoor purposes. Thanks.

Bwcaw-I have one of the Makita 14.4v NIMH lights.I was tempted to ask you about the mod before, but I didn't want to mess up my light. Can you give some more info on doing this mod.Do you have to cut up the worklight to get the bulb in?

I was about ready to mod my 12v Makita flashlight for a 20w mr16 bulb, but I'm curious to hear about this mod first.

Heh heh heh , Now we got their attention eh Micah?
And yes I have an eyefryer- the only real difference between the light you have bigwuss and mine is beam temp. and the fact that mine is smaller- battery has nothing to do with making it an eyefryer or not.The lack of a makita battery means nothing in Identification.

Btw- I dub mine the eyefryer "COMPACT".

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I would think that the difference between 12Vin and 14.4Vin would be significant.

12v lead acid, and the 14.4v Nimh side by side,
and the Nimh was definately brighter with a longer
throwing beam. Aragorn was there, but maybie he
doesn't remember. BTW Lor, I haven't done a run
time test, but I know that with the Sylvania bulb,
and the makita pack, it will run longer than a
surefire with the HOLA.

Troy, all you need the makita light for is the
battery pack. The head of the makita light is
removed, and a cord is run from the battery in
the makita light, to the Optronics spotlight.
I suppose you could build a battery back and make
it all internal, but I haven't tried it yet,
because of lack of funds.

Really any 14.4V power
source could be used though. The makita is nice
though, because it comes with a fast smart charger
and a spare battery.

I really wish that I had a digital camera, so I
could post a pic of this light, but I don't. Are
there any people who are in the Iowa/Nebraska/
South Dakota area that could post pics for me?

bwcaw, if you have access to even a film camera get some shots have em developed and scan em in. If you have no scanner go to a copy place - can I say Kinkos. After you get them to make the picts into Jpeg or gifs then you need a web site to post em on. Dont trust Wal-Wart to give you good picts on a floppy or whatever - I never liked them and had a hard time accessing them off the disk.

PLEASE DELETE!
DOUBLE POST.

Hey bwcaw,

Would you be intersted in sending your best and brightest Eyefryer to me so that I cna include it inour next big shootout?

It could be the Rev.2 shootout of the Goncz lights, or it could be the fabled "Super shootout" with a hoard of HID lights. Anyway, it seems Aragorn is convinced that it is the brightest incandescent out there, and he told me to contact you for a sample.

Anyway, if you're interested I'd be happy to include your mod for our test and post the images accordingly.

I promise not to harm your light in anyway.
