I have a new Mag light, and both ends unscrew. In which end should I insert the batteries? It also seems very odd that it holds 3 batteries, what's up with this. I thought most flashlights held either 2 or 4 batteries?

Welcome to CPF, Usually you put the 3 batteries with the top, Positive (+) or nipple towards the bulb from the tail side of the light.

I have no idea how do you put the batteries in from the bulb side in the first place. BTW Maglight produces lights in 1 aaa, 2 aaa, 2aa, 2c-6c and 2d-6d configurations.

Actually it's an old flashlight, just new to me, it holds 3 D batteries and both ends unscrew.

welcome to CPF!!

you'll find that flashlights come in MANY variations of cell count...

from 1-8 cells is very common.... and they aren't always common alkaline AA, C, and D cells.. some high power flashlights use lithium, lithium-ion, NIMH, NICD, and lead acid batteries.... many of which provide better power density than alkalines, and some are rechargable...

maglight makes 1 cell, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 cell flashlights...
