Hello,

I would like to know from the experts, what exactly is the difference between the KL5 and the KL6. Throw, side spill, etc. I appreciate your time.

The KL6 has a larger reflector and therefore produces a slightly tighter hotpot than the KL5. Its not dramatically tighter, but noticeable.

The KL5 is the business end of a L5, and the KL6 is the business end of a L6.

Flashlightreviews.com is an excellent source for info. Unfortunately, they haven't reviewed the L6.

Ahh, but Sean has. This should give you an excellent comparison between the two.

Also, let's not forget ledmuseum.org ... I don't have direct links, but you can find reviews of the two lights pretty easily.

L6 is bigger, 3 cells versus 2 of the L5, deeper reflector (and hence more throw), and more expensive. They're both "100 lumens."

I own both. My KL5 handles heat better than the KL6. The KL6 heat sink, according to CM, is to thin to quickly move heat away from the emiter, which causes output to drop fairly fast after light is turned on. My recently purchased, new KL5's holds its output until the light drops out of regulation due to depleated battery (s).

Even with diminished output my KL6 out throws my KL5, and the KL5 has an overachiever lux V emiter. I would never sell my KL5, but the KL6 is another story.
