G&P 1W drop in - worth it? Current draw?

I have a G&P 3W modded with a K2 that I have in a G2, but the thing gets so hot in there, I'm concerned its going to fry. So my plan is to give that one to my parents whom I gave a Gun Metal Gray 6P to a while back. That will handle the heat better since its aluminum.

I would like the get the 1W and possibly mod it with either a nice high bin LuxIII for a nicer tint and brightness, possibly even another K2. Whats' the current draw of the 1W? I want to guesstimate what my output might be with a newer K2 from PhotonFanatic....

If you feel up to the task, a Cree XRE would probably put out a lot of light with the 1W drive.

No one knows the current draw? I'm also interested in whether or not it would run on 2 3.6v 900mah protected RCR123s.
