I was curious to know because after handling my very bright and throwy D-mini for a week or so, I LOVE IT! But I am a bit afraid to drop it. I was looking for something rugged with solid output, throw, decent runtime, and H2O resistance and these lights keep popping up. Size is of no consequence to me, but of course within reason.

I hope i make sense. Any thoughts on the matter?

The 3C is slightly brighter with a little more throw than the 4AA. In my view it is not enough to be significant or to base a choice.

The choice here is on physical size versus runtime. The 3C is bigger and weighs twice as much as the 4AA. Its runtime is also about double at over 6 hours.

Choose based on your intended use and carry plans. I like the 4AA. It runs great on 4 NiMh and runtime is better than alkalines.
