I just ordered a L1 Lumamax from opticshq.com and if they don't have the white led in stock, I'll tell them to send whatever color since I'm putting a Seoul in it. BUT I'll only do this if the other colors are driven at the same current as the white.

By the way, what is the drive current on the L1?

White leds, current from a (fresh) 3 V battery:

L1 old style with LUXIII: 720 mA
Another L1 old style with Seoul: 790 mA
L1 newer style with Seoul: 750 mA

KL1 head/Lux III on E1e body (3V): 950 mA
Another KL1 head/Seoul on E1e body (3V): 900 mA

Those numbers don't sound right. I am SURE the KL1 head runs at 350 on 1 cell and 550 on 2 cells. And I believe the L1 runs at 250-ish.

KL1-head with seoul, CR123 3 V,
two different multimeters:
(current from the battery, not to the emitter):

(scratches head). I'm at a loss. I don't see how that can be the battery would be dead in like 30 minutes or something, wouldn't it? But I can't argue with the pictures. Still confusing though. Nice work energie...

Made another test with my mod. E1e:

Seoul, GD500 driver, AWs protected RCR123 3,7 V, 750 mAh:
---> Current from the battery (at 4,05 V): 450 mA
(continuous runtime 1 h).

YEAH BUT,
Mesuring at the batts doesn't take into account the loss in the driver.Mesuring at the batts will tell you how long it will run for(est) but not how hard the emitter is being driven.

big beam:

You are right.
Current from the battery: 450 mA
Battery: 4,05 V
Emitter: 3,25 V
Eta GD500 driver: 0,9
---> Current to the emitter: 505 mA
