Today I looked at one of my DX lights and encountered that the LED turned orange!

Also the reflector looks a bit strange to me ... it has dots everywhere... and the lens has this strange circle...

Anyone knows what happened to it?

(I hope you can see it on these pictures as I'm not used to take pictures like that with my crappy camera  )

I think there may be a corrosive gas inside that is making the reflector peel. What lube did you use for the orings? is the rubber used in the light smelly?

Two possible reasons:

I have two EYJ lights, great build, very bright, but without any thermal paste at the LED.
Without proper heat sinking, the LED would not last too long. This explains the orange color. I always put the thermal paste in first.

The dots in your reflector probably came from the cheap plastic reflector.

I didn't lube anything ... may be I should have done so ..

I have another EYJ light to which I added some thermalpaste, too. Probably it was getting too hot. At least emitters can be replaced very easily :)

Thank you for the "enlightenment" :thanks:

Is there a website that offers a wide range of different reflectors?
