so far i hve ordered Ultrafire C3(plan on using 14500 on it) and MTE 1AA version but apparently cannot accept 14500. I am interested in MTE C2 4-Mode SSC 42180 Flashlight but its buck regulation that me away from order button. let see if anyone can give any reviews for MTE C2 4-Mode SSC 42180 Flashlight.

yeah curious as how does DX Cree 4-Mode performs please update as you have more info. thanks

I picked up one these DX Cree 4-Mode with Memory Enhanced Flashlight, I let you know how it goes.

There is also this MTE C2 4-Mode SSC 42180 Flashlight looks promising.
And, what looks like a 14500 5-Mode Cree ELLY.

The UltraFire C3 has got some good reviews and it accepts both 14500 & AA.

These look good - I would go for the Fenix L0D as it's uncomplicated, robust and unbelievably bright for its size. That's assuming that the main criterion is output. If it's long-term proven reliability, then it would be the Arc AAA-P. (I have them both). Another contender might be the Auro (uses a Nichia 0.5W) but it's bulkier.

My favorite single 14500 light is the Jetbeam MKIIx

but its price range touches fenix's kinda expensive for me and i have fenix L1D-CE anyway but kinda scared to put 14500 on it(expensive), cheaper one might be better choice.

thanks

IMO, the MKIIx blows the L1D CE away, especially with 14500s (I too own the L1D CE). You're afraid to use 14500s in the L1D CE? I don't use them in the L1D CE either, but they work great in the MKIIx. You might also consider (when it comes availible) the Rexlight 2.1 which will sell for less than $50 when it becomes availible in July. I picked up a Rexlight 2.0 for $15 during the introductory offer and I've been very happy with it. It's almost identical to the Jetbeam MKIIx, I'm sure the 2.1 will be even better.

And remember, you often get what you pay for :)

Anyhow, I was just putting in my 2 cents.

after some research these flashlights cought my eyes.

Hugsby Cree P11 (1x AA/14500) Flashlight
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3170

DX 3W 5-Mode Cree Flashlight (1x14500)
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4624

C-4 Cree 3W P4 LED 1x14500 Flashlight
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4082

3W Cree 1x14500 Flashlight Black(but out of stock)
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1369

My current assesment:
the C-4 cree is 1 mode clicky type with nice(2500 lux) spot -assume 1m.
Dx 3D 3 dollar more expensive but has 5 modes with no mention of Lux reading
Not many mention about Hugsby flashlight no info on dx wesite as well, anyone try it. This one looks nice.

Still cant make up my mind. :)

what you think guys?
thanks.

I am curious about the Hugsby P11. Many 14500 lights don't work with a AA cell and this one states that it does in the title. So that alone has peaked my interest. Supporting a couple of modes would be my next point of interest. I really only like a really low low and a really bright high. That is all I need.

The Wilber Cree here looks ok:

Multi-modes but no mention of using AA cells with it. I like how it starts in low instead of high.

The Rexlight v2.1 is looking like the best canidate for me though:

Dexlight X1 from Deal Extreme. Amazing brightness and versatility for the asking price.
+1.. I love my DexLight, pretty bright and uses all types of AA batts.. It's a bit pricier than the others, $45, but do a search, I think someone posted they still might have a code for 10% off or something?

Just to add a couple points.

I purchased this 14500 light from Kaidomain and found the quality to be poor. The light won't stay on, or will not even go on. But when it does its great. But mostly, it won't go on.

Also bought an Ultrafire C3 which is advertised as taking a 14500. I could not get an AW 14500 to fit, even after removing the silver label.

Somewhere in the forum people mention about unprotected AW 14500 fits nicely in Ultrafire C3 but i cant remember which thread. Just wondering whether C3+14500 will be brighter dan 2xAA.

Maybe this? $15 free shipping, run on 14500 cell, gives 110 lumens and has good runtime. It comes in CREE, SSC.

or just go here to see all models:

Corbin.
Just noticed I was talking about 10440s not 14500s. In which case, I can speak highly of the (Dealextreme) DX1 16-mode light; works well with anything AA-sized.

.

I was looking at the DX 4-mode as well. But the heat issue is a big concern, for me.

Starts at 110 degrees Fahrenheit & peaks to over 130

Room temperature
during testing: 86'F (30c) . That's a pretty hot starting point.
