Beam can be seen 9 miles away, is that good or average for a home brewed spotlight?

Apologies, never spotted the name "Maxablaster" in the actual newspaper when I read it. Only did a quick link to the online version and reading it, seen it and searched and found Ra's entry.

Was back in 2006, why did it take so long for it to be published?

That is one powerful flashlight, not sure about the weight if it is to heavy to carry around. Just wonder how long the battery last from fresh charged.
