Is the NDI's high-output runtime THAT bad on NiMH?

I was real interested in the NDI when it first came out. The initial reviews looked great. However, the released version was reviewed at light-reviews, and the runtime with a NiMH on high is pretty bad! Look at the 00:26 runtime reported here: http://www.light-reviews.com/nitecore_defender/review.html

Well, is it THAT bad for everyone? Why have I not heard people talking about this weak point when discussing this light?

No, the situation is not that bad. Please check here:

In any case you should remember that Eneloop's give you a very reduced self-discharge at the cost of about 30% less capacity. So in a light you use frequently it is IMHO better to put 2700 mAh NiMH's that give you 35% more runtime than 2000 mAh Eneloop's and thirtyfive percent is not peanuts.

:)HI smg,

Thanks for your attention.

As to your inquiry, if the runtime on High is only 26minutes, then the current from the battery should be 4A, which is obviously impossible. Neither X2X3X2 (in light-reviews.com) nor us could figure out the reason, we had asked the reviewer to send the light back to us and we will check it ourselves. :)

Also, you may refer to the link Kilovolt provides, it's the review by Selfbuilt, whose test result mostly matches ours.:)

Any further questions about our light, please let us know, thanks!

Best Regards,
EDGE TAC
