Tiablo A-6? will it work with 2 rcr123, runtime or is it better with 17670?

Fenix T-10 will it work with 2 rcr123, runtime

Fenix T-11 will it work with 2 rcr123, runtime or is it better with 18650?

I'm looking to NOT run on primaries, but rather the best light for rechargeables based on the performance advantages/disadvantages of rcr123 vs 17670/18650 in each light?

18650 holds more power than 2 CR123A and 2 RCR123's, so will give the most power providing the circuitry is up to it. Apparently, on the TK11, the circuitry isn't really up to it, which is annoying.

And 18650 also holds considerably more power than 17670, so look for a light that is efficient on 18650. For instance Dereelight CL1H.

I have just got a the TK11 and really like it EXCEPT the poor regulation. I also use Dereelight 1S drop ins with 18650/17670 and they have great regulation.

I have now decided that if you want good regulation with a 18650 you need to stick with a light that is for that voltage only. The lights for 3-6v, 3-9v etc all seem to have poor regulated output with a single LiIon battery.

As others have pointed out the 18650 packs the most power and I think is the best choice for a dedicated rechargeable light as long as you choose a light optimized for that voltage. At work I use a Dereelight 1S drop in with a Leefbody and 18650. Great combo but a little expensive to set up. The Dereelight CL1H V4 would be a good light for you to look at I reckon.

I'd have to agree with harddrive on this one. A 1x18650 light utilizing a DereeLight module rated for "4.2V max" is very high on the rankings right now for performance, flat regulation, and runtime. It's one of the very FEW 18650 powered setups that actually stays in regulation properly.... right now it would seem that JetBeam and DereeLight are some of the major contenders in the 1x18650 market with lights that actually use the cell "correctly." (subject to personal opinion)

Given what it appears you are looking for, the CL1H is a better option :)

Thank you all, I needed you to help me see through all the company advertised numbers, and see the efficiency for really what it is.

So basically, I need to look at what is buit around the single 18650 platform, and NOT what will just only work with 123/rcr123/18650. And what is regulated the best for the 18650.

Looks like the Deree!

it's not that you have to or anything, but the 18650 is a lot of juice, taking advantage of that cell size is often desired. Slightly more capacity (watt-hours) than a pair of CR123s, double or more than a pair of RCR123s, and when in a light that regulated properly, can deliver a solid 90-120 minutes of "high-mode" (depending on how hard the driver in that particular light is set for on "high.")

If you must have backwards compatibility with CR123s and/or RCR123s, then you might look into a light that is buck regulated that will accept an 18650, like the LumaPower M1, TK11, CL1H with the multi-power module, etc....

With the "buck" regulated options, the light will diminish in output through the run, operating basically in direct drive, which is very efficient, and usually results in double or more runtime compared with regulating the output. This can be desirable, but I'm the type that prefers rock solid regulation :)
