I have a version of this lying around (shape / size is correct, it was a marketing gimmick) - http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/ishop/877/shopscr1736.html - and it's already been modded once - replacing the 5mm LED with something with a bit more power.

Anyways, the batteries leaked slightly so I want to take the opportunity. It's 14mm or so on the inside, so I figure I can use a standard minimag 2AA driver and a K2 :grin2: running off of a 1/2 or 1/3AA or AAA.

Anyone else tried this? Runtime will not be high, but I don't really care, I want the "WOW!" effect. :D

I'd feed it a 10180.

Chuck a cree XRE + resistor in there and you're good to go for ~80lm for 15mins [see: Lummi Wee]
