I can't get enough the vintage fisheye type of flashlights,
now I have several with various upgrades up to 10W halogen E10 & I use them daily, while my MTE P7 becomes a closet queen.

But one light I got recently came in with no bulb, no reflector, not even the bulb holder, just a fisheye lens over an empty tube.

After scratching my head for a while, I come up with the Vintage Q5 Aspheric Mod below. Put a heat sink & driver inside a medium light bulb base, then jamed the whole thing down the tube real deep.

The light looks like vintage 30s or 40s 2C baby style with mini turbo head.

The brand is Novo, which I never heard of.

I had to jam the led down the tube pretty deep,
now there's only room left for 1C. The chip up coverts
1.5V to 3.7v/700mA to the Q5.

This Vintage baby aspheric makes the 2D Mag Aspheric looks like a Giant

Now, the beam shot. The Fisheye lens is not high optically quality,
and it's not eactly the tall the Aspherics shape either.
I can't focus it down to the square chip.
But the outcome is not too bad, I think.

Now, the shoot out with the Aspheric mag.
Left = aspheric Mag, Run on 3W mag LED, not Q5/R2.
Right = Vintage Fisheye, runs on Q5 but lost bunch output due to the lens.

The fisheye aspheric beam isn't a perfect circle, I tried twick it but
limitted by the lower qulity lens, there's nothing I can do.
It looks like the fight is about even.

That's all, Vintage baby aspheric says Good night!

There's something about taking an old flashlight and mating it with technology that the people back then would have never thought to ever see in a flashlight.

Not satisfied with the beam quality, so I went ahead &
ordered three precision aspheric lens from Surplus shed,
39mm, 41mm & 44mm. various focal length.

The Old fisheye is about 40mm, hope one of this aspehric
lens will make a perfect beam for me. It should be much brighter
too with the quality lens.

Especily like the fact it runs on regular 1C Alk. battery,
pretty Bright, will last a while too.

Re: Vintage Q5 Aspheric mod with Heart Shaped Hot Spot!

Received the 3 lens from Surplus. Although they are all better optical quality,
each has a bit different shape & NONE was making the beam any better.

Finally, I swapped out the Alk. C cell to 18650, wow, it make the beam
3 times brighter & also helped to fill in some uneven spots.

After rotating the lens around a bunch, I finally settled with a beam shape that I like,
It looks like a heart shape some how.

Have you ever seen an Aspehric Valentine Heart before?

Haven't been active in modding my G35x for a while,
my Wilwood BBK just came off my car (05 G35x).

The two piece rotors has very little wear, amazing!. pads were worn but I have a spare set (2 new/2 lightly used pads). (I pair them up, slightly used for in-side & new pad for outside on each caliper)

See the brake set-up on my car:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/807724/2005-infiniti-g

See the model where I purchased it a few years ago:
http://www.fastbrakes.com/product_p/fb 350z g35 13-4.htm

You can call them up to see it it'll fit your car.
I paid $1600 total, asking $795 +$50 shipping in the US of A.
Paypal gift only. (Papal goods OK but add 4% or $37 PP fees)

email me at [email protected] for questions if I am not
active enough to get back to you on time.

Everything are there including the calipers (pained blue), rotors, pads, SS lines, mounting plate adapters. Its actually 13.6" & will fit 18" wheels or larger. may need spacers.
I am not responsible if some bolts are missing, was told by shop everything is in the bag. Not responsible or if it doesn't fit your car, so do your research up front. I used 20mm spacer on my 18" PPIAA & 10mm spacer on my 18" Enkei wheels. It's best to test & then get spacers for it if needed.

They are used. Selling as is, no returns.

cool

not to be bothering anybody or anoy, but your probably in direct drive with the li-ion
The chip up coverts
1.5V to 3.7v/700mA to the Q5.
Most of these boost curcuits when run on li-ion voltages or even 3Xnimh will not be able to Boost :) they will just slam all of the voltage of the 18650 right into the led, limited only by the resistance in all the connection stuff and any resistance in the curcuit itself.

so while you have adequite heat sincking, the vast increase in output you now have is probably over the (even) way overdrive specs of the LED item.
adding a bit of resistance WHEN using the li-ion would keep it from dying so soon.
AKA, just realise that fully charged li-ion your pumping in about 2+ AMPS.
