I have just bought a triple of XR-E R2 LEDs and am wondering how many mA I should push through them.

The triple is well heat sinked and my driver has options of 450, 700 and 1000 mA.

I'm having difficulty finding a datasheet that has the R2.

Thank in advance

PS

Application is a Night Orienteering headtorch.

The XR-E LEDs are rated up to 1000 mAh, and some have pushed them over that without problem.

:welcome:

Thanks.

Can you please point me towards a datasheet that mentions R2.

The CREE Datasheet on their site doesn't seem to cover R2??

R2 is a flux bin of the Xlamp series of LEDs. If you are referring to the Cree XR-E R2 flux bin, look at the Cree XR-E data sheet, if XR-C, look at the XR-C data sheet. There is no specific R2 datasheet because R2 is not a model of LED, it's only a designation for performance of the LED.

How much heatsink do you have?
