I am currently running my p7 drop in with 2 of surefires primaries. Did this by mistake at first as I would exxpect the vf of a p7 3.4-3.7 volts at 6 volts would blow the led. But it seems to work fine, Anyone have any idea why?

Either there's a driver cutting back the current or the cells are dropping enough voltage to keep it from frying or turning angry blue.

I had a P60 drop-in P7 made by Nailbender direct drive of course. MrGman tested it in his IS Sphere with 2 primaries and the voltage under load dropped to 4.2vish....It is perfectly safe, but things get hot quick.

How many lumens did he get with 2 primaries Did he use any other cells I normally run a 18650.

It is a sticky above, but it was 100 more.

The IMR 18650 cell saged way below 4.2v. If I recall it was 3.9~4.0 under load and the out the front lumens were 350ish..

I m actually running a darkzero d26 drop in. Just looking for the best setup to push out the most lumens out the front.

For a the absolute most out the front lumens on that P60 P7 DD drop-in you will need a big hosts and big cells. I had my Fivemega 3C hosts tested with NiMH cells and of course my Solarforce with SS bezel and UCL lens was used. Notice that the lumens jumped another 97 out the front, but were short lived. Heat and battery drain will not sustain those numbers for even 1 minute. Sorry, but its true. The better solution IMHO is to get a P7 P60 drop-in regulated at 2A. You should get more sustainable out the front lumens that will not suffer as much to heat.

Have you tested Nailbenders xp-g r2 d26 regulated drop in? I did not see it on your list. I am running it on a g2. It can run from 3.6-9v. Did not know if you tested any. Figure I can use either 2 primaries, 2 rcr123's 3 rcr123 imr's or one 17670. Not sure which one would be best.

MrGman lives pretty close to me so I just drive over and drop off my lights for him to test. Also, Nailbender has the same IS Sphere MrGman calibrated and we used to test the big bezel lights in MrGmans sticky thread #3.

I would ask Nailbender what they make out the front. You should be around 200 OTF lumens. I did have Nailbenders R2, Diamond Dragon, and K2 drop-ins but they were driven at 1.4A which is why I feel the out the front lumens suffered and were in the 150ish range for all 3 drop-ins.

We later had Kramer5150 made P60 drop-in which he made with the same 1.4A driver and a R2 which did 204ish out the front with an almost identical 6P hosts and cell. So, why did the Nailbender R2 at 1.4A make 50 less lumens vs. another identical type build made by Krammer5150 I dont know.

Nailbender has some new P7 bins that he is getting 650 out the front lumens with 2 primaries in a P60 drop-in type hosts. It made 550ish with a single IMR cell:thumbsup: Nailbender said he got a small batch from britelumens and these super P7 bins as he calls them are making more out the front than we ever imagined in a 6p hosts.

The two cr123 primaries have enough internal resistance that the voltage sags down as its drawing up over 3 amps so you don't instantly fry the LED. You can see what the real output is. the P7 would really run great at 4.4V or so with the right regulator or resistor.
