Argh...my credit card takes yet *another* beating courtesy of CPF! :D My Fenix TK40 just wasn't enough. Thanks to this thread...

...I just bought one of these Sunforce HID monsters:

http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200342907_200342907?cm_sp=RVC-_-Product%20Page-_-Products

I couldn't resist the $89.99 sale price. The regular price was $129.99 according to my Northern Tools catalog.

Your guys' reviews didn't help my poor credit card from suffering a nervous breakdown tonight. lovecpf

I'll let you know my opinions of it as soon as it lands in 7 - 9 business days. The big question is:

CAN I LEAVE IT STOCK?

We'll find out!

What is exactly the size? Like Amondotech MI or Costco?
I have a Costco 35w, and now I'm looking for something more "handable"

Thanks guys. All it took was one dark night with a few HIDs last week to convince me that I had to join Club HID. :D

The Sunforce light is a little smaller than the Costco/Mega Illuminator. It's much lighter though. At least that's according to BlueBeam22's post number eleven in this thread:

https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/239250

He has both of them pictured side by side. I don't know if that's the right Costco light that you're referring to though.

Ugh...the wait is killing me. :p

Pretty sure these are smaller than the Amondo / Costco... those things are huge. JimH brought one to a CPF meet and it EASILY accupied a large chunk of real estate on the display table

OP welcome to the club!!:)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. :) Yep, I've been bitten by the HID bug big time! My LED flashlights are handy for some things, but as I've learned though CPF and from recent hands on experience, if you want to throw a beam of light for a mile or more, you just can't beat an HID.

My Sunforce HID spotlight was shipped out yesterday (2-3-09) and it's scheduled to arrive at my door on 2-10-09. It's time to camp out in front of my house and wait for the big brown UPS truck to stop on by.

I just got my new Sunforce HID spotlight and WOW-OH-WOW!

The CPF reviews in this thread were *not* kidding:

https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/239250

This thing is a throw beast! It's hard to believe that it only has a 35W HID bulb in it. It has just about zero spill and only a tiny hot spot. If you want to throw a beam and throw it far, look no further than this:

http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/...200342907?cm_sp=RVC-_-Product Page-_-Products

It's a steal at just $89.99 considering how much a hand held flashlight that can throw just as far costs. It's also on sale because, according to my older Northern Tool catalog, the regular price is $129.99. Thank you CPF guys that reviewed the Sunforce HID spotlight in that other thread. :twothumbs If it wasn't for my brother (his D-I-Y HID completely blew my mind) and you guys, I would be messing around with just regular flashlights still.

I'm now a happy member of Club HID and I also now have a Peak PKCOTH halogen spotlight too that I got last week. With 12 V spotlights that can throw a mile or more, why would anyone mess with flashlights that cost *so* much more and don't throw a beam of light anywhere near as far?

I'm convinced that 12 V spotlights are the hidden gems of the light world because they've been around forever yet they don't get the headlight grabbing news that regular LED and incandescent flashlights do. That's a real shame in my opinion because the guys that are spending hundreds of dollars on small torches don't know what fun they're missing out on.

OK...time to go out and light up the sky tonight - WOO HOO! :twothumbs
