Looking at the review of both on light-reviews.com it honestly appears that the R2 version of the P20C2 puts out nearly twice the lux of the R5, what's the deal with these numbers? I understand that the R2 has more throw compared to the spill nature of the R5 but this review is confusing me.

Lux relates to throw. The XP-G version is putting out more lumens than the R2.

I can vouch for the more lumens aspect.. I had a T20C2 R2 sold it and currently have a P20C2 XPG-R5 and a Fenix TK11 R2. The Fenix throws a bit farther, but the P20C2 R5 is definitely brighter, bigger hotspot and spill.

Here is my thread.

I measured the OTF lumens and the lux on the EagleTac XP-G R5's ( all 3 of the new ones) and the older R2 and XP-E variants.

More lux more throw, but it has little to do with lumens. Just look at the many Aspherical lights most are well under 200 lumens with 65K plus lux at 1 meter cal.
