You guys have to forgive me but I haven't picked up a new light in a long while. My LED-Fu isn't like it used to be. But I was surprised when I stopped by Lowes the other day and saw this light. 500 lumens running on 3x123 batteries. What I think is a Cree XM-L Led. Has anyone picked up this light? Is it indeed a Cree XM-L? I went out on a limb and picked one up. I like it so far but I haven't really kept up on the newer lights and don't really know what compares to in the price range. It was $69. The build quality isn't that bad and has a good useable low and the high is nice and bright. It has a nice beam also coming from a deep smooth reflector. Anyway I just wanted to see if anyone has any long term use of this light. Here's some pics.

This is the best picture I can get of the LED. Is it indeed a XM-L?

Some beams shots. You guys have to forgive me. I haven't taken a beamshot in awhile but all shots are taken from the same spot and same setting. The lights are the 1) Kobalt 500 lumen light 2) Surefire LX 2 and 3)Surefire 6PX.

Kinda reminds me of the Stanley HID's...every now and again those B&M brands can put out a decent light. Nice find.

I wonder if Lowes in Canada carries them...may have to go see this weekend :D

I wonder how well that would work with 2x17500 instead of 3x123?

$68.90
2xcr123a
650/100l
1.5/7.75h
& 5.6x1.3" is closer to the size of those surefire's, but once they're this big, might as well have the extra runtime of 3xcr123a's & the kobalt's larger head diameter for more throw, because the kobalt's beam looks much more intense than the JB's 9k cd. Also available locally, which is convenient.

What is the length & diameter of this one prime? Very few specs on lowe's product page. Any complaints so far? Kind of in between the bc25 & bc40. Nice one.

Since this thread comes up in google search I will revive it.
Many people are distraught over needing a banker to buy batteries.
2 18500 Li-Ion batteries will work just fine if not even better than the 3X cr123s.
I believe that the 500 lumen rating is truely OTF lumens.
It has a great throw and a nice (guessing) 7 or 8 degree hot spot.
