Well beside the digital display, this should be on par with xtar's xp4.

After using this charger I find it works well but it gets hot. I measured 167f on the bottom.
I am surprised there are no vents on this charger. I even opened the case and drilled several rows
of 1/4 holes in the bottom and on the top above the display. Had to peel off the label of course.

Even then it didn't seem to help much. The main circuit board basically blocks any air flow from
moving from the bottom to the top, like a chimney damper. So I carefully ground off any edges from the
board that I could. That did help some but I think it still runs too hot. Thinking about mounting a small
fan on it.

So if anyone gets one definitely keep a eye on the heat.

167F is 75°C

You have to be careful not to trigger 1A mode on NiMH, then it gets really hot.
At 0.5A it gets warm, but not smelly. I measured battery temperature and got below 45°C on the one I checked (The charger will be warmer than that).

Note: I will probably revisit both the Efest and the ThruNite charger, with a more careful look at temperatures.

Just to clarify, I was charging 2300mah Nitecore 18650s and
Panasonic 3400. Both four at a time. I have not charged any aa
cells. The 167f was the highest temperature spot I could find
on the bottom. I didn't notice any smell. I will say they used a
very heat resistant plastic. I saw no signs of any heat distress.

I'll try to take note how hot it gets after the mod but just from
feel it can tell at least the bottom is much cooler. It was too hot
to touch for any length of time before.
