Are my aw 16340 imr ok to use in my SF eb2? Will this or any battery increase output? Thanks

Nope this will result in too much voltage. 6 volts for 2 x CR123, compared to 8.4 volts for 2 x 16340. :poof: Surefire wants you to use CR123s.

Increased output only tends to occur with lights that are directly driven and not regulated lights - unless a manufacturer explicitly designs a light to support both battery types, in which case they will advertise increased output. Using 2x 16340 IMR in most Surefire lights will result in :poof: and then you need a new light. If you really want to use rechargeable for the EB2 look at 17670 batteries as an alternative. I'd stay away from IMR chemistry since they are meant to be used in high voltage applications.

Or, use 2xRCR123A LiFeP04 rechargeables. They are interchangeable with primary cells since they have similar voltage.

And, they fit in the Surefires...

A 17670 will run the light, at a noticeably reduced output.
Same goes for the E2D Ultra that I tried in-store, no idea what kind of run-time you would achieve.

I have to agree with ChrisG on the RediLast 17670, a well put together cell that fits every two cell Surefire I own. Even the tapered bore E bodies.

For the EB2 I recommend using K2 LFP123 cells. It is the best way for the EB2 using rechargables. Using a single LiIon cell wil force the light is running unregulated since the voltage is too low for the driver.
