I wonder who would choose 3* CR123 over 4* AA

I does look good though :) -Wonder if they come with a 2/3* 18650 version later.

The specs. say that the working voltage is 12v, so maybe 3 rcr123? And its 17mm shorter if that makes a difference.

Mmm...3xCR123 is an interesting format. If I was going to make a light with a 3xCR123 format it would be something like Surefire's M6 with a protruding tailcap clicky. Cylinderical body.

I've never liked multi-CR123 lights because of the potential hazards with unmatched cells.

Received my F30R from Illumination Supply today and really like the short length compared to my Nitecore EA4 with the same basic diameter. Also based on early use the two switch user interface is an improvement over the EA4's single switch with it's full and partial depressions. Very short length for the diameter. Carried in a front pants pocket some people may think that you are glad to see them.
