A waterproof vial that can hold a 18650 or two 16340 would sell like wildfire... so hard to find ones that can be used outdoors, mine are aluminium currently and I insulated the ends to prevent shorts, but would love to see 3D printed ones :)

CoghlanMatchHolder.jpg

99 cents at WalMart and they come with matches, a strike pad and a fire steel glued to the bottom.

Fits 1x18650, or 2xCR123As.

Link please

There are quite a few options in Walmart...

I am based in Ireland, so getting my hands on these sort of items (and cost effectively) is very difficult... I have however sourced an eBayer who I have dealt with on similar items and he has agreed to start providing these if anyone is interested in buying in bulk, I could PM a link to his store?

Ready!

The 18700 carrier was printed in a zombie green plastic.

Electrical contacts are from leather rivets and a P60 drp-in spring.
This particular method offers no contacts' resistance, cos the battery is literally touching on tined wire. (1.5mm thick)

Also, an adapter was made to fit the shorter 18650 batteries.

i will make the .stl file available in the next days, cos i have to adjust it for post-prototyping.

well the library of a nearby town is very forward looking. It has a MakerBot Replicator 5 (very good one), right along the robotics sections.
They are planning for a 3D scanner now...:D

LOL, I believe, total amount of resources wasted (electricity, design time, supply materials, printer resource), would allow direct shipment even from digikey :)

Re: 3D printed 18600 battery carriers & holders

that may be, but you leave out the:
- Custom Design
- Joy of creation (which I think it is a big thing in this forum, especially the homemade/modified flashlights section)
- Skills attained to be invested in future projects (my next one is a much sought after device for HAM & EmComm groups)
- Ability to replicate by ANYONE around the world (so no postage @ multiply times)

BTW total cost was 3.43$, beats the heck out of any cost of international mail package of USPS.

let alone the digikey own rates
