ARC 4+ RUINED NEW TOYS -- WHAT\'S NEXT ?

I purchased an ARC 4+ (second).
With the variable power levels on the ARC 4+ and already having an ARC AAA
I can not figure what else I would "need".

I do not normally go outside at night other then to go next door (in town) or shopping at a Mall.
I do not see any need for a more powerful light than the ARC 4+.

I already have:
Brinkman Long Life LED
4 Photons - two white on key chains - red in car + a spare
Pelican L1 -- lousy battery life
Streamlight Stylus
Streamlight Baton Lite - N cells expensive
RayoVac clip light
ARC AAA Standard
ARC AAA Special Edition
ARC AAA CPF Edition 2003
EBay 8 LED with 3 AAA batteries
2 Streamlight Twin Task Lights 2L - one for each car.
1 Streamlight Twin Task Lights 1L - just to play with.
Dorcey AA 3 LED.
ARC LSH-S (second) with clickie-twistie and 2 AA pack
ARC 4+ (second)

Having the ARC AAA and the 4+ as EDC sort of "knocks" the need for any more lights.
I do not use a lot of the above since getting the ARC 4+.
I was thinking of getting the 5W Luxeon from Lifestyle Fascination but, do not really see
any use for anything more powerful than The ARC 4+.

I am a gadget lover and like the lights but can not figure out what more to get.
I was thinking of Inova XT 5LED but, with the variable power of the ARC4+
and the larger size of the Inova I would probably not use it.

HELP !!!! What's left (within reason) ?
I know, I do not have any Surefires, but they are too expensive for me.

I say sell as many of your other lights as you have to for a Surefire. I won't be so bold as to say SF are the best, but a collection can't be complete without at least a few Surefires!

If you have what you need, then your done, be happy. Maybe you don't need a 12 step program like the rest of us(ok "I") do.

Only thing left is to get something you don't need, but just want. Or move on to something else...like expensive mechanical watches....

P.S. How well are you set up for an extended power failure? Do you have any battery powered lanterns?

Well, you could get a large light with a lot of throw (luxIII in a mag w/reflector) or a large light with tons of lumens (tri-star, or if you want incandecent, m6/etc)

Glenn,
What's your dream light? You might start saving up for it.

Want cheap and powerful?
Try something real different then like;
A home Depot husky 2 million candlepower, 100 watt off road halogen bulb equipped, rechargeable spotlight for under 30 bucks.
LOTS of throw on that one!!!!
A 55 watt h3 halogen fits that one too for a longer battery runtime.
This was my favorite light a few months back before I got my Trilight3.

My suggestion is to stop, as mentioned by GregR. After I bought the ARC4+, it made me want more lights /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif Now I'm currently into superbright incandescants, which I totally don't have a need for. Why do I need to light up the trees around my girlfriend's place? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/poke2.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

In terms of Incandescants, how about a MagCharger/WA combo (flashlightlens has them) or a TigerLight? Both are comparable to the SureFire M4 and M6 and don't cost as much.

OK, for kicks, how about:

1) a UV light, like X5T-UV on sale at Meridian
2) a blinking/constant car lite like Inova 24/7 or eternalight (or turboflare)
3) a little bright incan like SF E2e
4) a small brite led like the Firefly ver2
5) a dead battery sucking lite like X5T or Milky Candle
6) a Luxeon III, like FF or VIP or XM-2

I'm just helping myself rationalize the "rounding out the collection" thing, so feel free to adopt any part of it!

Hello Glen,

Perhaps it is time to check out HID lights...

If you have a higher pile carpet and drop a pin, an HID light like the X990 is very useful in finding it.

If this isn't a great testimony to Peter's newest light, I don't know what is!!

Glenn, that's a good problem to have... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
