Not sure if I should congratulate you or give you my condolences! Either way it shows that SF's do take a beating!

Is that water IN the bezel or just a crack line on the lens? What does the rest of the light look like?? Nothin better than seeing a quality instrument actually put to use like it was designed for.

I don't know; if it's got water inside like it looks like it does, I wouldn't be happy. Assuming it hasn't been used for diving, I would find that totally unacceptable.

Re: And now for L6\'s \"waterproofness\", suckers...

Looks like the lens shattered, which provided an opening for water to get in to the bezel. Unless the lens failure itself was somehow premature, or if the water was there beforehand, I can't see how this could be considered a failing of the light.

Nice macro pictures of an interesting situation! I like how the light is still working after all that.

Lens is cracked, light is filled with water. It functions perfectly fine. Only downside - water creates a current path, and there is no way to shut the light off, in off position it just glows at 5-10% of normal output.

Point is - this light has never leaked, but when it was full of water, it still worked. Now, why do you need a waterproof light??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So why doesn't anyone try a water cooled Luxeon? I'm sure you can easily make the place between the reflector and luxeon water proof. You can drive a 5W to like 15W!! And make 450lumens! W00t!

It is great to see photos, thanks FC!

I guess you could freeze your waterfilled bezel and over-drive the Luxeon until it melts...

How did the light end up that way? It seems to have seen interesting things. Tell us the story /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif what's it gonna take to shatter Pyrex?

Did you break into a car or something? The bezel is scratched up, so definately hit something with it
